Yes, do you get the message, being an artist involves more than just being in the studio. There is a mountain of paperwork, planning and other mundane tasks to be taken care of as well. But the only way to get it done is to do it, not procrastinate, or otherwise a little pile can turn into a hideous mountain and that's how to make sure that plenty of problems are created that we can do without. Actually I didnt get everything above done, only stratched the surface. The main thing I did was work on my Final Piece. Se La vie! Tomorrow is another day. Could do better. Try harder. Success does not come easy.
Back home from College. Surfaced bogman with pages and pages of new caramel tissue. Could only do one side as cannot turn it till it is dry. The legs look good, and the bottom I am pleased with. Put in new ribs at the back but from the photo they look wrong. Must rectify on Tuesday. Working fast, enjoying it but it is laborious. Felt like I was giving bodman a massage – it helped to smooth in the pva and enabled the figuration to be delicately modified. As it is Bank Holiday now & I have 3 days off I have materials at home to begin another figure. Ideas are bubbling. Number one would be to do a woman seated on the floor, elbows on knees and face in hands, or, do someone laid out & covered with a cloth – I was thinking of putting coins over the eyes. Something I saw in India.. coins to pay the ferryman.
