The excitement in Paper

paper sculpture by Henni Michielsen

Thinking of making my next paper sculpture. Plan to make the underframe with glossy white card. It will be simpler because it will cut easier than chicken wire. I shouldn’t get prickled the way I do with the sharp wire. Also because it naturally ‘tubes’ the limbs (arms and legs) will be produced quicker. It will be like making a jointed doll and I can adhere the limbs, eg. Calf to knee and thigh, then wrist to lower arm, elbow, and upper arm, then to shoulder. I hope it goes well. I have to use my measure to roughly get the proportions looking okay – like, how many heads fit in the trunk etc. I have 8 packets of 10 sheets of white paper and am just going to the Range to get more. It’s better to have excess rather than run out. The same goes for pva and I will get more on Tuesday.
